Wellington Access Radio 106.1FM

Wellington Access Radio is the station that’s by, for and about our communities. We’re a non-profit, grass roots organisation that celebrates all things Wellington, Porirua, Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt.

We provide a media platform for groups whose voices aren’t usually heard on mainstream radio, and are always on the lookout for new programme makers.

We broadcast live on 106.1FM, stream live at accessradio.org.nz, as well as hosting on-demand podcasts of all of our programmes, videos of in studio interviews, and music live-to-airs.

Our non-commercial frequency, granted by the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, together with invaluable support from New Zealand On Air allows us to provide programme makers and community groups with the tools to represent, connect and inform.

We prioritise content under section 36(c) of the Broadcasting Act:

To ensure that a range of broadcasts are available to provide for the interests of

A.1 36© women; youth; children; people with disabilities; and minorities in the community including ethnic minorities; to encourage a range of broadcasts that reflect the diverse religious and ethical beliefs of New Zealanders
